Andrea Gaglione obtained the Ph.D. degree in Computer and Control Engineering in December 2009 from the University of Naples Federico II, advised by Prof. Nicola Mazzocca and Prof. Antonino Mazzeo.
He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Engineering, both summa cum laude, from the Second University of Naples, in 2004 and 2006 respectively. In 2006 he joined the Ph.D. program since he was awarded a fellowship from Ansaldo STS.
In 2008-2009 he got an appointment as a Visiting Research Scholar at the Viterbi School of Engineering of the University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, USA, where he did research with Prof. Ramesh Govindan, who heads the Embedded Networks Laboratory (ENL) at USC.


His main research interests include:
  • Critical Infrastructure Protection
  • Risk management
  • Sensor networks integration
  • Composite Event Detection
  • Wireless Sensor Networks

He is a teaching assistant of the courses held by Prof. Nicola Mazzocca and Prof. Antonino Mazzeo at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II.

He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and he has served as a member of the Technical Program Committee and a reviewer of several international conferences. He is also a member of the ESRA TC on Operational Safety and Security of Interconnected Critical Infrastructures.
