Giuseppe Loianno received B.Sc and M.Sc in Automation Engineering both with
honours at University of Naples Federico II in December 2007 and
February 2010 respectively.
From August 2008 till March 2009 he has been an exchange student at KTH (Royal Insitute of Technology) in Stockholm, then from September 2009 till March 2010 he developed his master thesis at ETH Zurich at the ASL laboratory focusing on Micro Aerial Vehicles under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Davide Scaramuzza.
He has obtained in May 2014 his Ph.D in computer and automatic engineering focusing in Robotics under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vincenzo Lippiello and Prof. Dr. Vijay Kumar. He was involved in EU FP7 project AIRobots (www.airobots.eu) in sensor fusion and visual control.
From April 2013 he has been Ph.D student and visiting associate at the GRASP Lab at University of Pennsylvania under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vijay Kumar.
He was a Post Doctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vijay Kumar.
He is currently a lecturer, research scientist, and team leader at University of Pennsylvania.
He was the main organizer of the workshop "Vision-based Control and navigation of Small Lightweight UAVs" at IROS 2015 with over 150 people attending.
He was the main organizer of the workshop "Vision-based High Speed Autonomous Navigation of UAVs" at IROS 2016 in Korea with over 200 people attending.
He is the main organizer of the workshop "Vision-based Agile Autonomous Navigation of UAVs" at IROS 2017.
