Antonio Pescape'






Short Bio

Antonio Pescapè is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering and Systems of the University of Napoli Federico II (Italy). He received the M.S. Laurea Degree in Computer Engineering and the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and Systems, both at University of Napoli Federico II. His research interests are in the networking field with focus on Internet Monitoring, Measurements and Management and Network Security. Antonio Pescap\'e has coauthored over 90 journal (IEEE Communications Magazine, JSAC, IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine, IEEE Networks, etc.) and conference (SIGCOMM, IMC, Globecom, ICC, etc.) publications and he is co-author of several patents pending. He has served and serves on more than 70 technical program committees of IEEE and ACM conferences. He has served as Editorial Board Member of IEEE Survey and Tutorials (2007-2010) and was guest editor for the special issue of Computer Networks on ``Traffic classification and its applications to modern networks''. In 2009 he was awarded with the IET Communications Premium Award 2009, in 2010 he was awarded with the best local paper award at IEEE ISCC 2010, in 2011 he was awarded with the TEA (Technologybiz Endorsement Award). He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Bio

Antonio Pescapè received the M.S. Laurea Degree (summa cum laude) in Computer Engineering and the PhD in Computer Engineering and Systems both at University of Napoli ''Federico II'' (Italy). Antonio Pescape' is currently an Assistant Professor at the Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica, Università di Napoli Federico II where he teaches courses in Computer Networks, Computer Architectures, and Programming. In addition, Antonio Pescape' is both Adjunct Professor of Computer Science Basics at University of Napoli ''l'Orientale'' and of MultiMedia at University "Suor Orsola" of Napoli. Also, he has been Visiting Professor at the Military Academy of the Italian Air Force (Accademia Aeronautica).
His research interests are in the networking field with focus on models and techniques for Internet Traffic, Network Measurement and Management of heterogeneous wired/wireless IP networks, and Network Protection and Security.
He is member of COMICS group at Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica, Università di Napoli Federico II and part of the ITeM Lab of CINI (Italy) where he is and he has been involved in several national research projects in the field of networking and distributed systems. In addition, he coordinates and he coordinated some projects in the areas of network measurement and multimedia. In particular, he is the Scientific Coordinator of the Research Unit "Tecniche Innovative per misure su Reti IP", within a research grant between Dipartimento di Informatica e Sistemistica and SevenOne Solutions. Moreover, he is one of the Local Coordinators of CINI-UniNA research unit within the EU Network of Excellence Content, founded by the EU during the years 2006-2009. Finally he is Local Coordinator of UniNA research unit within the EU COST Action IC0703 "Data Traffic and Monitoring Analysis”, founded by the EU during the years 2008-2011. Finally, in the field of network measurement and analysis, Antonio Pescapè is involved in large scale and distributed measurement projects in collaboration with CAIDA (USA) and with WIDE (Japan) respectively for ARK and Gulliver projects.

He is author of about 90 papers, mostly in IEEE/ACM journals and conferences, and of book chapters on topics related to its scientific and research activity.

He is an IEEE Senior Member and has served on more than 70 conference technical program committees (IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE WCNC, IEEE ICC, IEEE HPSR, IEEE WirelessCom, IEEE IPOM, SPECTS ...). He serves as referee for many relevant journals in the field of Networking (Computer Networks Journal, Future Generation Computer Systems (Elsevier), Computation and Concurrency: Practice and Experience (Wiley), IEEE/ACM Transaction on Networking, International Journal of Communication Systems (Wiley), Information Fusion (Elsevier), IEEE Communication Letters).
He has served as Editorial Board Member of IEEE Survey and Tutorials (2007-2010) and was guest editor for the special issue of Computer Networks on ``Traffic classification and its applications to modern networks''. in 2009 he was a Program Chair of IEEE AINA 2009.
