Actinides elements together with lanthanides elements compose the group of rare earth elements.
Transition metals belong to groups 3 (IIIA) through 12 (IIB) of the periodic table. They have properties similar to metals (ductiles and malleables, and conduct electricity and heat). Transition metals, when combine with other elements, use electrons present in more than one shell. This is the reason for they often exhibit several common oxidation states. Iron, cobalt, and nickel are the only elements known to produce a magnetic field.
The 38 transition elements are
Scandium, Titanium, Vanadium, Chromium, Manganese, Iron, Cobalt, Nickel, Copper, Zinc, Yttrium, Zirconium, Niobium, Molybdenum, Technetium, Ruthenium, Rhodium, Palladium, Silver, Cadmium, Hafnium, Tantalum, Tungsten, Rhenium, Osmium, Iridium, Platinum, Gold, Mercury, Rutherfordium, Dubnium, Seaborgium, Bohrium, Hassium, Meitnerium, Ununnilium, Unununium, Ununbium
