From January to October 2008, a stage at Tecnam Aircraft Industries in Capua(CE) was followed. The stage focused on the Flight Tests and Certification of the twin engine 4-seat aircraft P2006. Flight tests addressed to flight-performance measurement have been carried out in order to complete flight certification and in order to release an official version of an aircraft flight manual. The measurement flight performances have been fundamental in the preliminary setup of the first prototype. The aircraft has been slightly improved during the first months, after preliminary flight tests. An example is the wingtip modification with the design of the winglet to improve the OEI RC. The longitudinal and lateral-directional response modes have been assessed and quantified. At the same time the longitudinal airplane model, through a dedicated set of flight maneuvers, has been characterized by means of Parameter Estimation studies. The aircraft stability derivatives have been estimated from the acquired flight data using the identification technique known as Output Error Method (OEM). Some estimated stability derivatives have been also compared with the corresponding values extracted from leveled flight tests and from wind tunnel tests performed on a scaled model of the aircraft.
From September to November 2006, a stage at Alenia Aermacchi in Turin was followed. The main topic of this work was the Definition of sistem of spoiler fly-by-wire for a transport aircraft. The main result was to propose two different design(named Dual Duplex and Triplex) as shown below. Fault tree analysis (FTA) and mean time between failure (MTBF) were performed.
