About Me

My Adventure in the Research as a PhD Student

I am a PhD student in Information and Communication Technology for Health (ICTH) at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (DIETI) of the University of Naples Federico II.

I found my passion for the world of research during my undergraduate studies, when I worked on an experimental thesis on a wearable Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) system based on visually evoked potential integrated with Augmented Reality (AR) for robot-assisted rehabilitation therapies in children with attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

My research journey continues exploring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) techniques applied to the field of medicine and healthcare. Specifically, my study focuses on enhancing automated algorithms for managing post-prandial glycemic response in patients with Type 1 Diabetes who wear an artificial pancreas system. On the other hand, I'm involved in a project regarding colorectal surgery, the goal is to develop a machine learning (ML) system to support physicians in the evaluation of bowel vascularization.

Additionally, my work includes analysing EEG signals for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.

I conduct my research activities in Naples within the Augmented Reality for Health Monitoring Laboratory (ARHeMLab). Also, I collaborate with a research group of the Department of Engineering for Innovation at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy).
