Flora Amato is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies of the University of Naples Federico II, where she has been carrying out her research and teaching activities since 2006 in the fields of Knowledge Representation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine and Deep Learning.
She teaches Computer Programming, I.S. and Business Intelligence in the Degree Course in Computer Engineering, Hardware and Software Architectures for Big Data and Text Mining in the Degree Course in Data Science at the University of Naples Federico II. She is a member of the doctoral board of the PhD Course in Computational and Quantitative Biology and the Scientific Committee of the master's degree Course in Artificial Intelligence and Ethics at the same University.
She graduated cum laude in Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences at the University Federico II of Naples in 2005. She received in 2009 the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer and Control Engineering at the same University. She was a visiting researcher at the Dipartimento de Ciències de la Computació of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) in 2013 and at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Maryland (Washington DC, USA) in 2015.
Flora Amato serves as the head of the Laboratory IDEA: Intelligent Data-driven Systems Lab, where she guides and directs research and development in intelligent data-driven systems.

She was Program or General Chair of many international conferences, participated in more than 40 Program Committees of International Conferences, and was a member of the Review Committee of more than 70 International Journals and Conferences.
She was invited as Keynote Speaker at the 35th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (35th AINA-21) to present the role of Artificial Intelligence in Industry 4.0; and gave the Keynote speech on Semantic Interoperability for Domain Knowledge Governance at the European Commission Joint Research Centre, Dir. E Space, Security and Migration, Cyber and Digital Citizens' Security. In 2019 she won the Best Paper Award at the 14th International Conference on P2P, Parallel, Grid, Cloud and Internet Computing (3PGCIC-2019) and in 2017 she won the Best Paper award at the 11th International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems (CISIS-2017). In 2010, she won the national "Working Capital" award for the best research projects, promoted by Telecom Italia S.p.A., and obtained funds to design a semantic search platform. In 2009, she won the 'Scrivi il Futuro' award for the best research projects proposed by PhD students from scientific faculties.
