Mario Selvaggio
I am an assistant professor in the department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Naples Federico II since October 2023. I am member of the PRISMA Lab and ICAROS, and co-founder of the spinoff companies BeyondShape and Herobots. I earned a Ph.D. degree in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering in April 2020, under the supervision of Prof. Bruno Siciliano. Before that, I obtained a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in January 2013 and March 2015, respectively. During my career, I spent one year internship with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in 2016 (dept. of Advanced Robotics) and two short periods as visiting student at IRISA, INRIA Rennes (Equipe de Recherche Lagadic and Rainbow team) from November to December 2017 and from October to December 2018, respectively, and visited the department of Mechanical Engineering at University of California Santa Barbara from June to December 2019.
My research interests include: shared control/autonomy, robot teleoperation, passivity-based control, soft-robotics, robotic grasping and manipulation, robotic surgery.
If you are interested in working or collaborating with me, don't hesitate to reach out!
